GOING BY THE BOOK
INTRODUCTION
At some point in our lives we must ask the question: who made me, and why am I here? We may like to believe we are all just cosmic soup, randomly floating for 70 or 80 years in a world that evolved over billions. If that is the case then eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die. For many people that is their philosophy. But what a shameful waste of the most precious and priceless material called human life. We are not just randomized carbon of no more value than worms. We are made in the image of God. At least give yourself some dignity!
The cosmic soup and evolutionary arguments have had their day. It is time to be honest. The intelligent design is evidentially visible, Whoever might be responsible. And if we are intelligently made we must follow up with Why?
But then I need to interject and ask you what is your main resource for answering such vital questions? We need to listen to something authoritative and something that is true. Enough speculation, and relativistic ‘science’ (where we all claim my science is better than yours).
I am not going to engage here in a defense of the Bible. A writer of a bygone age once said: ‘Defend the Bible? I would sooner defend a lion. Let it loose!’ So I am simply going to let it loose and bring you to some texts that give answers to ultimate questions. In so doing I hope that together we can ‘follow the Maker’s instructions’. We are GOING BY THE BOOK.
The Jewish world for millennia has seen the importance of Torah study. The wisdom of Moses and the Prophets is undeniable for it is the wisdom of God. The T-N-K of Torah, Neviim and Ketuvim (Law, Prophets & Writings) is without equal. But what is it all about? Who is it all about?
Without hesitation we wish to say it is all about Yeshua / Jesus. He said so Himself (Brit Hadashah / New Testament – John 5:39).
But first let’s start at the very beginning, which is a very good place to start! But be aware. This is no ‘144 characters’ summary. While not exhaustive, we do believe in giving you some substance.
